We are recruiting for an Innovation Chef to join our client's growing Innovation Team and drive culinary excellence in existing product development and new concept development, satisfying and exceeding customer needs.
Exceptional chef skills, a real passion for food development and a strong appreciation for market trends and customer purchase drivers are essential attributes for this exciting new role.
You will work alongside the Food Development Team, the Customer Marketing Team and the Commercial Team, and be responsible for driving product development from concept to ready-to-launch stage, representing our client in a customer facing role.
Culinary innovation, concept design and new and existing product development for our client's retail customers.
Recipe innovation to aid business growth.
Establish, maintain, implement and improve products.
Design quality through the selection of materials, suppliers and processes available.
Apply creative culinary expertise to develop innovative new recipes, manage product costings and successfully redevelop existing products.
Develop and present innovative concepts and solutions to internal and external stakeholders in a confident manner and build relationships with retailer development staff.
Detail recipe information, costings, specifications, assembly guidelines, etc.
Continuously evaluate the quality of existing product ranges.
Source, evaluate and product re-engineer ingredients; work with suppliers to source new ingredients.
Keep abreast of and ahead of competitors by conducting regular benchmarking trials and ensuring that all products meet with commercial constraints.
Maintain and observe Health, Safety and Hygiene standards in accordance with Company rules and regulations.
Maintain and observe all company procedures.
Other associated duties within the competency of the post holder as directed by Line Manager.
To succeed in this challenging, people focused business, you will have/ be:
Higher level qualification in Food Science/ Technology, Consumer Studies or related Discipline.
Food Hygiene, Food Safety accreditation or willing to undertake this training.
3rd level qualification in Advanced Professional Cookery.
At least 3 years' recent experience as a creative chef or within food services or manufacturing.
Good knowledge of HACCP and strong understanding of cuisine.
Experience of Food Development /concept development, with a passion for innovation.
Technical appreciation of food safety requirements associated with the supply of chilled and frozen meat products.
Relevant people management experience.
Experience working in the meat industry is desirable.
Recent experience in food development for the multiple retail sector.
Excellent computer skills.
Strong interpersonal skills, an excellent communicator.
Able to demonstrate ability to work on own initiative and effectively time manage.
