General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for an Entry Level Electro-Mechanical Engineer to join our Nuclear Weapons Security team. The position provides an opportunity to develop and advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense services. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed clients to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to design and development the systems, processes and tools that support internal and client operations. Key Responsibilities

Entry Level Electro-Mechanical Engineers design systems, software and equipment layout, as well as develop test plans and preventive maintenance programs for General Dynamics Mission Systems and its customers. These employees are responsible for the development, implementation, installation, testing, modification and operation of a variety of complex equipment and systems. Individuals who fill this role also serve as company liaisons with customers on administrative and technical matters. Additionally, these individuals assist customers with the operation and maintenance of GDMS systems. Team members also provide technical expertise to users and company personnel both domestically and internationally.

  • Support and engage in programs, projects and practices behind the General Dynamics Mission Systems culture and strategy, and comply with all policies and procedures.
  • Follow industry and department trends and developments to ensure General Dynamics Mission Systems services are consistent with, and/or superior to, industry best practices.

Basic Qualifications:

Candidates must demonstrate a passion for innovation, a sophisticated understanding of systems engineering and analysis, and the ability to effectively develop and evolve General Dynamics Mission Systems technology. The Entry level Electro-Mechanical Engineer position requires a bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or in a related specialized area or the equivalent, and zero to two years of related experience. Applicants with a master's degree also qualify.

Department of Defense Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Additionally, applicants must meet the eligibility requirements for a controlled billet in accordance with DoD Instruction 5210.42 Nuclear Weapons Personnel Reliability Program (PRP). Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Required Skills:

  • Examine, prepare and verify technical drawings/documents and specifications to ensure that installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements.
  • Analyze engineering sketches, specifications and related data and drawings to determine design factors.
  • Direct validation and verification testing of products and systems.
  • Direct and coordinate deployed security systems support, documentation, testing, and failure analysis activities to ensure compliance with specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Proficient in technical writing (technical manuals, test plans, implementation plans, etc.)
  • Review project documentation to resolve discrepancies and compile required changes to work instructions and other program related processes.
  • Upon hire, ability to maintain favorable standing in the Navy's Personnel Reliability Program as indicated in the basic qualifications.
  • Be able to lift/carry 40 lbs.
