We deliver creative solutions for building projects for industry, government, commercial and leisure sectors. Our building engineering specialists have expertise in structural and building services engineering, fire engineering, acoustics, facades and seismic design. Job Summary
The Buildings and Places Division of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented and motivated Civil/Structural Drafter/Designer for immediate employment in the Colorado Springs Office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in civil/structural drafting, specific to vertical building design and construction utilizing, Autodesk 3D software. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Working knowledge of Autodesk 3D software platforms and data entry methods
  • Layout drawing, elevation and detail sheets
  • Under limited supervision prepare drawings from general instruction, preliminary sketches and drawings by civil and structural engineers
  • Under limited supervision provide drafting services by preparing and maintaining civil/structural drawings of small to complex design and layouts
  • Responsible for updating drawing files to As-built conditions from field redline mark-ups
  • Preparation of drawings based on client drafting standards
  • Preparation of exhibits, sketches and other documents utilized in reports and presentations
  • Preparation and assembly of design project deliverables
  • Participation in company quality standards to include checking others work in addition to submitting own work for verification of quality

Minimum Requirements
  • 3 years of Autodesk 3D software experience; Associate's degree in disciplinary field can substitute for one year of experience
  • Experience utilizing AutoCAD for plan production and structural detailing experience
  • Understanding of the design and drawing preparation process using project specifications and discipline-associated written and verbal instructions in accordance with established design practices, standards and procedures
  • Basic understanding of engineer's process of performing and verifying design calculations to support the overall project design
  • Basic knowledge of data entry methods
  • Basic knowledge of the project change control process and can identify a potential change
  • Solid understanding of principles within civil discipline and basic understanding within architectural, mechanical, and electrical disciplines
  • Ability to balance multiple concurrent tasks, responsibilities, and commitments efficiently and simultaneously
  • Working knowledge of project design and construction documentation production, standard construction techniques and principals
  • Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's degree and completion of technical trade school courses, or equivalent drafting and design experience
