Rail assurance engineer, contract role, London, EC4M 7RB|
As Rail assurance engineer you will lead the delivery of MMRA's core activities and related services on a project basis and be responsible for delivery in accordance with applicable requirements to the satisfaction of the customer.
MMRA Ltd. is a member of the Mott MacDonald Group established to provide independent statutory conformity assessment and verification services both internally to the Group and externally to customers. MMRA is seeking a Technical compliance engineer to join the team to support growth with our accredited inspection and certification activities and to provide support for expansion into new markets.
MMRA's main activites:
Notified Body (NoBo) and Designated Body (DeBo) for the assessment of the interoperability of the European railway system and application of Notified National Technical Rules (NNTRs), ensuring the rail industry is safe, efficient and sustainable.
Assessment Body (AsBo) services against the Common Safety Method (CSM) EC Regulation for the evaluation and assessment of risk associated with changes to the railway environment.
Provide independent Inspection Body services to ISO 17020 (Type A).
Product certification body to ISO17065 assessing compliance of products against a range of product standards.
Provide project support, consultation and recommendations regarding applicable specifications, Directives and Regulations impacting on projects within the Mott MacDonald Group and directly to customers.
The Technical compliance engineer will lead the delivery of MMRA's core activities and related services on a project basis and be responsible for delivery in accordance with applicable requirements to the satisfaction of the customer.
Main Role Activities:
Produce technical reports and certificates in line with defined procedures.
Responsibility for planning, organising and delivering projects to strict budgets and timeframes.
Develop a working understanding of the relevant legislation and regulations required to deliver projects.
Proposal development based on customer requirements, regulations and specifications.
Technical review of customer enquiries, inspection reports and proposals.
Liaise with customers
Essential academic, professional qualifications and experience:
1) Good level of engineering industry experience.
2) Exposure to engineering project work.
3) Experience of working within a regulatory technical environment.
4) Experience of working with engineering standards and specifications, ideally within the Rail industry or similar.
5) Engineering project management.
6) Experience of technical audits and inspections to formally recognised requirements.
7) Experience of producing technical reports and certificates in line with defined procedures.
8) Pro-active and able to develop core business opportunities through networking.
9) Understand legislation and the role of engineering standards within industry.
