Position Description: |
Reporting to the Technical Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for successful project delivery of Hybrid System Development and Validation within the Electrification Systems Engineering Department. Develop System level targets for the project ensuring close communications and collaboration between Customers, Suppliers, Design Agencies, Attributes, Systems, Electrical, Powertrain, Vehicle Engineering / APC and Research functions. Technical, Stakeholder and Peer review meetings for the projects including management of research and project delivery gateway approval process.
Ensure close communications and collaboration between Attributes, Systems, Powertrain, Electrical, Vehicle Programme, Marketing and Design and Research functions.
Track progress of System-Level testing. Deliver System Verification on-time and on-budget with appropriate resource numbers, test properties & research vehicles.
Manage outsource work packages. Define and manage delivery of agreed objectives to defined budget.
System engineering experience (incl development & cascade of requirements, FMA and managing Verification testing) in the field of hybrid or Power Train engineering.
Able to lead the resolution of technical issues and development of technology, in the team environment and interface directly to the attribute teams, component areas, facilities teams, program teams and external suppliers to represent the department.
A strong technical knowledge of key powertrain and hybrid technologies (e.g. engine, transmission, cal&controls, e-motor, inverter, battery)
Previous experience in applying system engineering approach in a Powertrain or Hybrid system application,
Educated to Degree or equivalent level in a related Mechanical, Electrical, or Automotive discipline and computer literate .
A sound technical knowledge of hybrid systems, e.g. engine, transmission, motor, inverter and battery technologies ¿ A strong technical knowledge of pollutant emissions control strategies, calibration methodologies and their interface to wider system and vehicle.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to deliver with minimum supervision.
Experience using ETAS Inca, AVL Concerto etc to analyse engineering data ¿ Knowledge of JLR Hybrid Powertrain systems ¿ desirable ¿ Knowledge of JLR Electrical systems desirable .
Knowledge of software delivery control plans desirable .
Knowledge of target setting & requirement cascade process desirable Knowledge of FMA desirable Knowledge of pollutant emissions, calibration methodologies and regulatory tests.
Additional Information :
The Role is principally based at Gaydon Engineering Centre, but meeting support at other JLR Midlands facilities and Suppliers will be required. Candidate must have a full (preferably clean, UK) driving license Primary Gaydon, Other - Whitley, Warwick
