Groton, CT - Combat Weapon Systems: Payload Launch Control and Onboard Trainers, Dept. 440. Payload Launch Control Engineering applies highly diversified skills to produce weapon and payload launching electronic cyber-physical systems for US Navy nuclear submarines. Leveraging state-of-the-art technologies, MMP Systems Engineering within D440 is responsible for system design - defining system requirements, concepts of operation, and selection and development of sensors - and development of payload launch and recovery systems for the SSN23 MMP and land-based MMP System Trainer. The group leads the Systems Engineering efforts of a multi-discipline engineering team (software, hardware, fluid systems, electrical, mechanical and test engineers) during the course of a project. Engineering opportunities include initial system design, requirements development, analysis, customer interaction, project management, hardware/software integration, test, delivery, shipboard integration, and evolution of these systems aboard nuclear submarines. Occasional travel is required. For USS Jimmy Carter (SSN23), engineering efforts extend to the analysis and resolution of fleet identified problems, assessment of obsolescence issues and implementation of modernization programs.
