Steelworker/Platers required for the new build of Nuclear Submarines.

Marine Experience

The Job
We are looking for a self-motivated and organised individual with good timekeeping ability. Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to enable you to work as part of a team. Must be able to work in confined spaces and at heights, and be available to work shifts if required.
The role of a steelworker within BAE Systems Submarines involves working from planned drawings to mark out, cut and shape vessel structures. This involves fabricating various submarine sections, seatings, bulkheads and decks, as well as smaller steel components.
Please be advised - Various Shifts & 7 day working arrangements may apply. You must be willing to work as part of a team and prepared to work shifts, evenings and weekends if required to do so by the business.
Work safely at all times, complying with Health and Safety and other relevant regulations and guidelines.
All aspects of Steelwork involved in Submarine construction.
Check completed activity to ensure all operations have been completed to meet the required specification.
Ability to follow relevant instructions, drawings and any other specifications to tolerance.
Use of hand held burning and grinding equipment.
Use associated tools and equipment safely and effectively.
Qualifications/Experience (You must be able to provide original certs):
Recognised apprenticeship in shipbuilding or steelworking
C & G Level 3 or equivalent.
NVQ L3 (dependent on time-served date).
Demonstrate experience in Shipbuilding, Nuclear, Petro-Chem. Offshore, Marine, Heavy Engineering.
Previous experience in erection of large steel fabrications.
Knowledge of Dry Survey and marking off, mock-up and some wood experience would be desirable

Basic - £18.04
Overtime Monday to Saturday (After 37 Hours) - £21.47
Overtime Sunday - £32.20
37 hrs per week.
