Sales Manager |
Reporting to the Senior Commercial Manager, the successful candidate's key responsibility will be to identify and secure business from new and existing clients, throughout the UK, within project sales (the bespoke factory to foundation service).
This is a solutions driven sales service, potentially linking projects and multi-disciplinary teams. The person will be able to close the deal and stay in touch with customers to allow further work to be gained. It is a role where a true understanding and engagement with the client, of their problems and issues, is absolutely essential.
The role includes understanding the complex supply chain that may exist.
Operations include maintenance work, the replacement of plant modules, complex overhauls and the expansion or construction of production sites. There may be projects within projects or tight timescales, e.g. components may need special logistical management prior or during shut-down periods where minimum disruption to production is vital.
This is a role where travel throughout the UK and meeting customers face to face is a pre-requisite.
Main responsibilities & challenges:
Personally identify new opportunities and customers, developing a strong sales pipeline.
Follow-up on opportunities and turn them into business.
Gather sufficient information to enable a smooth handover to the project management team.
Ensure continuing communication and involvement with clients, providing increased awareness of our services prior to and during customer new project developments.
Work with the Tendering Manager to produce bid documents.
Maintain, develop and extend network of contacts.
Being part of the Sales team, building close relationships with prospective customers, including attending relevant corporate and social events.
Education and experience:
Proven sales track record within technical high value business.
A relevant degree would be advantageous, e.g. Mechanical Engineering / Aeronautics / Civil Engineering.
Circa four years B2B experience with performance and personal delivery responsibility (as opposed to leading a team).
A high level understanding of financial data and commercial contracts.
Use of relevant business information tools and ICT.
