Quality Engineer (QHSE) |

The purpose of this role is primarily to ensure that the Company is fully compliant with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 requirements, but to also move forward to successfully obtaining the ISO 18001 accreditation. In addition, the post-holder will need to be fully conversant with H&S regulations and ensure that the Company is compliant with these.
Quality & Continuous Improvement:
Create, maintain and improve the JC Quality Management System.
Establish programmes, policies and procedures to evaluate precision, accuracy and capability of processes, products, production equipment and testing, measurement and facilities ISO quality system requirements.
Schedule and perform audit activities to include: pre-audit planning, audit execution and evaluation and post-audit follow-up together with recommendations. Process should include non-conformance reports (NCRs) and opportunities for improvement in line with ISO 9001:2008 requirements and agree robust corrective actions.
Assist operating units with the development and implementation of corrective and preventative action plans to improve overall ISO compliance and quality results.
Define quality procedures with the in-coming goods process with a focus on ensuring that the 1st off inspection and agreed "gold" standards are implemented and are being followed. This may involve travel.
Present to managers on improvement projects and activities. Compile and write training material and conduct training sessions on improvement tools and methodologies.
Support the development and administration of the customer corrective and preventative action (CAPA) internal non-conformance and JC Quality Management System
Create a comprehensive set of Standard Operating Procedures throughout the works. Support SOP authors in the creation of procedures in the first instance, audit the created procedure against the process.
Develop and maintain a comprehensive quality manual.
Train all employees on QMS and policies in line with the annual training plan and run toolbox talks for quality related issues.
Set up and chair the Quality and Environmental Management Committee aligned to the requirements of the Policy and Procedures
Liaise and co-operate with quality management and standards bodies (eg. BSI, etc). Internal liaison re: relevant legislative, technical and Q&E matters with Company Directors, Managers and Department Heads.
Work with the purchasing team to establish quality requirements from external suppliers with the occasional visits to establish KPIs and continuous improvement activities when needed.
Business development opportunities - identify the quality and environmental standards required for potential new business opportunities as and when appropriate and evaluate JC's standing against such standards in order that we are able to win such business.
Identify actual and potential aspects likely to affect environmental performance and work towards the elimination of such aspects from Company operations.
Health and Safety & Environment:
Ensuring that all H&S and Environmental policies and procedures are compliant and are kept up-to-date with legislative changes.
Advising senior managers on legislative changes as they arise in a timely manner, ensuring that actions are put in place to eliminate all possible risks.
Develop and maintain H&S and Environmental manuals, handbooks and procedures and documentation as required.
Ensuring that the workplace satisfies H&S safety and welfare requirements for ventilation, temperature, lighting, sanitation, washing and rest facilities.
Management of all procedures for the adequate control of, exposure to hazardous substances, including but not limited to: flammable, explosive, electrical, noise, radiation and manual handling risks.
