Directs, manages and leads a cross functional team to ensure speed, dependability and efficiency in plant operations.
Overall site business performance responsibility including KPI performance (safety, productivity, delivery, quality and cost).
Setting the aim for the organization and ensuring goals for the plant align with overall business unit and enterprise objectives.
Responsible for ensuring Cummins values are present in plant employee/labor relations, community involvement, diversity, health, safety, and environmental practices.
Including fostering the right environment in the areas of safety, ethical behavior and financial compliance standards.
Directs and manages a cross functional team including operations, finance, human resources, safety, quality, engineering and supply chain management supporting the machining, fabricating, assembling, and processing operations required in manufacturing and production operations at a single plant.
Works to enable each function within the plant to drive performance.
Coaches and develops plant operating team staff; works with employees to set goals in training and development, performance, and career planning.
Fosters cross functional development of plant staff.
Consults with customers and industry representatives to evaluate and promote improved and expanded products and services.
Develops plans for efficient machine, manpower and material utilization consider updating language conversion costs or production conversion; drives continuous improvement in the plant; develops solutions to achieve continuous improvement goals.
Primary areas of focus are safety, productivity, delivery, quality and cost.
Improvement plans leverage common processes, tools and systems including COS principles, Lean principles, functional excellence initiatives, supplier quality improvement processes and new product introduction processes.
Identifies strategic priorities and develops the capital budget and plant expense budgets.
Supports overall supply chain initiatives and looks to optimize the overall manufacturing network to drive performance.
Ensure alignment between plant activities and overall supply chain initiatives.
Alignment with internal business partners e.g. human resources, quality, finance etc.
to drive plant performance and support enterprise and business unit initiatives.
Intervene to address supply chain failures as necessary.
Communicate with customers and suppliers regarding significant plant quality issues.
Financial Planning - Ability to develop and control a process that delivers an annual operating plan that achieves the objectives of the business while meeting the corporate guidelines and goals. The financial plan confirms that the objectives set are achievable from a financial point of view for both profit and cash flow. Ability to develop, implement and control the planning process. Sets realistic targets for the business based on the objectives of the business. Identifies any risks or opportunities related to the plan and works with the business to mitigate the risks.
Operating Team Cross-Functional Excellence - Cross-functional overview of Plant Operating Team Staff functions: Finance, Quality, Materials, Manufacturing Engineering, Shop Operations, & Safety. Understand the roles and responsibilities of the Operating Team members and frequently have technical discussions with them with a good understanding of their subject matter.
Establishes Plans - Develops short- and long-range plans that are appropriately comprehensive, realistic, and effective in meeting goals; integrates planning efforts across work units. Demonstrated results indicating deep knowledge of establishing plans. Uses structured tools, processes and systems to plan initiatives and document work clearly. Ensures objectives for projects or initiatives are clearly linked to corresponding activities for effective execution. Solicits customer feedback to incorporate into planning process. Demonstrates the ability to plan initiatives across multiple teams/organizations, ensuring goals are consistent and aligned.
