Perpetual Partnerships are a niche engineering recruitment consultancy with a significant track record of supporting the key goals of organisations within the engineering community.

Out client are an ambitious and rapidly growing automation solutions provider/ systems integrator seeking the most technical candidates available to support their business plan for foreseeable future. They are looking for a highly technical and experienced Senior Project Engineer/ Control System Engineer/ Software engineer for the design, development and commission of automation and control systems.

The business aim is to continue to expand across multiple areas of the UK by employing the most technically sound and experienced individuals available. In return my client would provide a huge opportunity to work on projects suited to the candidate to almost give them a self-employed feel to the position. Typical customers of my client include anything from small R & D product development companies to large scale multinational organisations which can include automotive, aerospace, process, marine, water and heavy, special purpose engineering with many of there customers using large drive systems.

The Role

Our client's key objective is to design, develop and commission control & automation systems and to carefully manage the entire operation from conception to completion, monitoring the entire lifecycle of the project. This person will have a good understanding of multiple drives and their associated systems. (AC/DC, Servodrives, motion control, large drives etc)

The role will comprise of handling a number of high value projects from concept to completion. This will begin with the technical development of project activities followed by technical leadership of the project. You must be able to understand the project lifecycle which will include the development of design documentation, configuration of PLCs, SCADA, HMI etc.

Projects usually involve Siemens, Rockwell, Mitsubishi, Wonderware etc- Experience with at least 1 or more of these systems at software development level are an absolute necessity. Large drives system knowledge is advantageous. This role will have a great deal of variation with more and more projects being added to the order book each day

Detailed Role and Responsibilities

- Control system software design and implementation

- Control system hardware design

- PLC programming from scratch

- Liaison with clients

- Work as part of a team or alone with senior guidance as required

- Participating in the tendering process

- Report writing and surveying

- Industrial Ethernet network design and testing

- On site installation, testing and commissioning

Skills & Qualifications

- Electrical/ Automation Degree or similar.

- Control system design experience.

- Siemens/Rockwell/ ABB software development experience.

- Drives knowledge

- Candidates from water or process industries are extremely advantageous.

The Person

The successful candidate will have at least 3 years' experience in designing and developing control systems/ PLC/ automation software. My client would like someone who is a self-starter who demonstrates a great attitude to both employer and customer at all times.
