Responsibilities for this Position:

General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS), a market leader and technology innovator, is seeking talented professionals to deliver cutting edge solutions to our customers.

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Senior Solutions Architect - Product Support located in the Washington DC metro area. The position provides an opportunity to support and integrate intrusion detection/intrusion prevention systems (IDS/IPS) into networks used by federal law enforcement, government security agencies and United States military networks. This cutting-edge technology supports our nation's ability to protect core defense services and systems. Successful candidates will work closely with General Dynamics Mission Systems' management and with government and industry clients to develop solutions that allow them to protect critical national security missions supporting intelligence collection, processing and dissemination.

The selected candidate will:
  • Perform in a forward facing role with independent customer interaction.
  • Travel to customer sites gathering information and proposing multiple solutions based on stated needs.
  • Supervise engineering staff installing and maintaining specialized IDP/IPS sensing platforms.
  • Spend time installing and maintaining specialized IDS/IPS systems as well as training users on the installation and maintenance of these IDS/IPS systems.
  • Support to the client(s) with installation, upgrade, and maintenance of Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) systems and by creating graph files by compiling Snort rules.

In depth knowledge of MS Windows and SE Linux operating systems is required. This person will provide post installation support with certification and acceptance testing with system accreditation support.

Travel to customer sites 50% of the time or greater is expected.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Systems engineering, a related field, or the equivalent experience is required. Advanced degree preferred. In addition, a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience is required.

Candidates must have a TS/SCI security clearance. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

GDMS prefers 5 to 10 years of experience with the following:
  • Examining a client's network infrastructure and gathering requirements regarding security needs.
  • Examination of security vulnerabilities in the network infrastructure.
  • Examination of security vulnerabilities in networked information processing systems.
  • Contributions to small proposal efforts.

Strong knowledge in the following areas:
  • Network infrastructure configuration and maintenance. This is defined as someone that can configure Routers and Switches and understands IP- Layer 3, layer 2 transport and physical layer media.
  • Knowledge of Transport layer 4 (TCP & UDP) ports and protocols.
  • The ability to create and compile rules. SNORT experience.
  • Knowledge of key management practices, Type 1 encryption, and COMSEC procedures. Understanding of PKI, asymmetric and symmetric keying.
  • Knowledge of Intrusion detection and intrusion prevention systems.
  • Knowledge of and ability to configure the SIEM (experience with more than one platform is a plus) in several forms: e.g. SPLUNK, ArcSight or other SIEM systems
  • Understanding of Red Hat SE Linux and STIG hardening process for those systems.
  • Understanding of Microsoft Windows plus STIG hardening of those systems.
  • Knowledge of scripting.

Travel may be required.

This person can work in Annapolis Junction, MD or Fairfax, VA.
