Responsibilities for this Position:

General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS), a market leader and technology innovator, is seeking talented professionals to deliver cutting edge solutions to our customers.

As a Senior Software Engineer you will assist in the design and implementation of a large system development and integration effort using Agile Scrum methodology. You will be part of a high-performing team, interfacing with other software engineers, systems engineer, information assurance engineers, test engineers, configuration management personnel, and other project team members.

Your Primary Responsibilities will include:
  • PBX
    • Work closely with customer SMEs to administer the Avaya PBX, Modular Messaging System, and S8720 Media Servers using Avaya Communication Manager and Integrated Management
    • Maintain hunt groups
    • Add, move, or change phone equipment (physically and in software)
    • Monitor incoming and outgoing trunk groups and circuits; report any outages
    • Troubleshoot issues as necessary
  • Legacy Systems
    • Daily checks for functionality
    • Replace faulty disks, peripherals, and internal modules
    • OS installations (SCO Unix, OpenVMS)
    • Application installations (LMD, CLUAS)
    • Order and take delivery of equipment, etc.
    • General troubleshooting
    • Replace failed systems and components
    • Diagnose communications issues
    • Work with administrators to solve database issues
    • Generate key orders for keyed peripherals
  • Cryptographic Equipment
    • Perform setup and configuration
    • Upgrade software versions when necessary
    • General troubleshooting using Limited Maintenance Manual guidance
    • Replace faulty modules
    • Key and rekey when necessary; ensure key material is up to date
  • Install, configure, maintain, replace miscellaneous equipment, such as:
    • Terminal Servers
    • Cisco routers
    • Allied Telesys media converters and switches
    • Tape drives
  • VTC equipment and communications support

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, a related technical field or the equivalent experience is required. Advanced degree preferred. In addition, a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience is required, 15 years of relevant experience preferred. Travel may be required.

Candidates must have an active Department of Defense TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
