WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff is seeking exceptional candidates for the position of Senior Supervising Engineer in our Seattle office. The successful candidate will provide technical support and manage tasks in traffic engineering, transportation engineering design, traffic operations analysis, transportation planning, and planning and design of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and tolling systems. The ideal candidate will have educational background in traffic engineering principles and methodologies and transportation design. The candidate must be capable of demonstrating creativity, foresight and mature engineering judgment.

Specific Duties include:
Project Management and Business Development
Traffic engineering analysis and studies
Design and operations analysis of arterials, intersections, freeways, ramps and interchanges
Traffic signal design
Signing and striping design, roadway lighting design
ITS design and operations
Systems engineering for ITS
Transportation planning experience with corridor studies and alternatives analysis
Toll systems, toll operations, and managed/express lanes
Technical writing
Managing traffic modeling and studies
Preparation of complete PS&E construction drawings
Coordination with other engineering disciplines and stakeholders

The candidate will manage project or direct traffic tasks on major projects and monitor project progress for technical accuracy and adherence to schedule and budget. May supervise engineering staff and provide technical guidance. Experience directing tasks and performing QA/QC is required.

The applicant will lead and perform the following routine engineering functions:
• Manage and control multiple projects and design efforts
• Attend project progress meetings, design review, operations, and project production and delivery
• Gather and record engineering data and information, prepare routine reports

Substantial experience with the Puget Sound Area and Washington State Department of Transportation in the traffic engineering and transit markets is highly desirable. Experience in Design-Build projects is also desirable. Participate in the development and maintenance of client relationships in the Puget Sound area, working in concert with Area Managers, Discipline Managers, and other regional staff. Assist in development of proposals, presentations and business development efforts.

Job Requirements
      • A minimum of 15 years of experience in traffic engineering or related field
      • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field required
      • PE license in Washington or ability to obtain within 3 months
      • Strong technical writing, analytical and communication skills essential, including ability to present concepts verbally.
      • Managerial/supervisory preferred
      • Master's Degree in Civil Engineer (Transportation) preferred
      • Applied project experience in the fields of traffic and transportation engineering and transportation planning
      • Ability to independently make decisions on significant engineering problems or methods.
      • Ability to work in the United States immediately required.
      • Local candidates preferred
