Responsibilities for this Position:

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a 2nd Shift Test Engineer to join our team. The position provides an opportunity to develop the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense services. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed clients to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to assess the functionality of General Dynamics Mission Systems and client technologies. Key Responsibilities

Test Engineers are responsible for designing, developing and implementing cost-effective methods of testing and troubleshooting products used in high reliability Undersea Systems. In addition, these employees prepare test and diagnostic programs, and organize schedules and equipment required to test and evaluate standards and special devices.

Additional Responsibilities
  • Select test instrumentation and define test methodologies
  • Write manufacturing test software (primarily C) to automate test routines and data collection
  • Provide ongoing shop floor support, troubleshooting, and training to Shop Testers
  • Provide Shop Associate training for testing and troubleshooting of products
  • Support Design and Customer experiments and product failure investigations
  • Use data analysis tools to improve production test processes
  • Support and engage in programs, projects and practices behind the General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems culture and strategy, and comply with all policies and procedures.
  • Follow industry and department trends and developments to ensure General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems services are consistent with, and/or superior to, industry best practices.

Basic Qualifications:

  • The position requires a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
  • Experience in C language programming skills including Microsoft C
  • Experience with Unix (or similar Linux...) including shell programming
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong skills in multitasking and problem resolution
  • Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
