Job Description:

Employer: Bry Sand Ice Arena Ltd.

Location: 7908-18 Street, Edmonton, AB, T6P 1Y7

Wages: $30.00/ hour, 40 hours per week

Shifts: Rotational / weekends - Flexible hours required

Job Description:

Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements
Prepare layouts in conformance with building codes and contract specifications
Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials as required
Prepare, maintain, fit, install, repair and renovate contracted work sites
Prepare, fit, assemble, join, erect and remove structural formwork for concrete foundations (flat surfaces, walls, columns, beams and shafts)
Supervise apprentices and other construction workers
May prepare cost estimates for clients.
Co-operate and perform tasks with other contactors when required.
May assist in concrete placement and finishing duties.
Maintain accurate records and logs
Must adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety requirements

Skills & Experience required:

Must have a minimum of three years of relevant experience in concrete forming, residential/commercial construction
Should possess a journeymen trade certificate in carpentry or appropriate related trade or in process of acquiring this
Red Seal endorsement preferred
Must possess a valid and clear driver's license
Should be able to multitask, handle stress and complete deadlines
Should be competent in general carpentry such as framing, boarding and installation of concrete placement forms
Should be able to follow oral and written instructions, manufacturing manuals, engineering specifications, sketches and applicable specifications and codes
Must be able to handle a variety of carpentry working processes and required instruments and power tools including table saw and radial arm saw
Should be familiar with and be able to assist with concrete and formwork estimates
Must be able to achieve a high standard of quality and workmanship
Must be physically fit to handle lifting loads of up to 50 kg
Should be able to demonstrate time management skills, good communication, problem solving, critical thinking, job task planning and organizing skills
Must be able to work well with others in a team setting
An understanding of plumbing and electrical installation would be an asset.
