Evolving from early roots in Africa over 40 years ago, our client has substantial experience providing integrated solutions and delivering comprehensive projects in mining, oil and gas and post conflict zones and developing countries and remote locations worldwide.
Headquartered in Dubai, they began serving clients in Afghanistan in 2002 and in the years since has grown into a large multifaceted firm, employing over 1,000 staff from 27 different nations. Today they manage projects in such locations as North Sudan, South Sudan, Sierra Leone, Kenya, Chad, Uganda and Somalia.
They are currently seeking a Site Agent (Civil & Mechanical) to be based in the Somalia, Africa. The contract is initially for 12 months with extensions depending upon performance.
Reporting into the Project Manager, you will be responsible for responsible for managing tendered projects within the business, including resources, programme, Health & Safety, Quality, Contract and Commercials.
You will oversee all tenders from a commercial point of view.
You will ensure all suppliers and sub-contractors are on similar payment terms.
You will ensure all sub-contractors are paid on time and no overpayments occur.
You will ensure that all agreed rates are under strict budgetary control.
You will create immediate to long-range plans to develop and drive efficiency and cost focused initiatives.
You will develop and continuously improve planning and cost analysis management systems.
You will be the senior point of contact for project related schemes.
You will build strong relationships with our clients and assume responsibility for dealing with escalation issues.
You will ensure delivery of customer requirements and act as key interface between business and customers.
You will identify and drive implementation of continuous improvement initiatives to support and improve projects delivery.
You will ensure all projects are delivered on time, to budget and to operational quality & safety standards
You will be a champion a quality culture across the construction Division and devise appropriate initiatives to underpin 'best practice' to quality
You will ensure all projects meet required KPIs and SLAs.
You will monitor, measure, track and report on project status via industry standard tools & software (e.g. MS Project) with a view to improving KPIs through a culture of healthy competition.
You will be responsible for ensuring the Project Management team is resourced efficiently in order to be able to cope with project demands while meeting budget requirements.
You will review projects 3 months in advance to ensure resourcing is sufficient for project requirements.
You will develop relationships with key personnel in the field as well as at management level
You will be responsible for leadership on the performance management system and for supporting and performance managing the direct reports.
You will produce weekly, monthly & quarterly reports as required for the Directors and CEO
Knowledge and Skills:
You will be an accomplished Site Agent / Clerk of Works with strong project management skills.
You should have knowledge of applicable building codes and safety laws.
You should have good math skills, special relationship abilities, and the ability to understand engineering and construction data.
You should be an excellent communicator and team player and have excellent interpersonal skills with proven ability to develop and deliver presentations.
You should be operationally biased with ability to make key decisions to support business and able to take a 'big picture' of the business and respond to external and internal challenges accordingly.
You should be able to take ownership for tasks and responsibilities and be able to effectively operate in a dynamic and fast paced organization
You will be a proficient people manager and able to manage teams to optimum performance with proven organisational and planning skills and have integrity and be professional at all times.
Finally, you should be pc literate, e.g. MS office plus AutoCAD, and you should also possess a Drivers Licence.
This is an outstanding challenge for an accomplished Site Agent / Clerk of Works looking for something different.
The basic salary is paid in US dollars and is tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee. There is also an end of contract bonus.
A 12 month unaccompanied status contract is offered which includes free accommodation, laundry, local transport, insurances and meals. In addition, employees have the use of a phone to call family and friends and the internet for e-mails etc.
The R and R entitlement is 66 days and there are 3 free flights per year back to your home base. Mobilization and De-Mobilization flights are paid for by our client.
