Evolving from early roots in Africa over 40 years ago, our client has substantial experience providing integrated solutions and delivering comprehensive projects in mining, oil and gas and post conflict zones and developing countries and remote locations worldwide.
Headquartered in Dubai, they began serving clients in Afghanistan in 2002 and in the years since has grown into a large multifaceted firm, employing over 1,000 staff from 27 different nations. Today they manage projects in such locations as North Sudan, South Sudan, Sierra Leone, Kenya, Chad, Uganda and Somalia.
They are currently seeking a Document Controller to be based in the Somalia, Africa. The contract is initially for 12 months with extensions depending upon performance.
Reporting into the Project Manager, you will be responsible for accurate management and safeguarding of documentation generated by the project team, contractors and suppliers in support of the day-to-day operation of the project and in a manner that will enable all relevant parties to quickly retrieve them.
This includes, but is not limited to, operating procedures, manuals, engineering/technical reports, correspondence and project management files.
You will control all aspects of project documentation on multiple simultaneous projects, utilizing various control methods/systems.
You will prepare, operate and update Document Control Procedures in line with the Company's Document Management System.
You will ensure proper document control support is given to each project.
You will produce and maintain Document Progress Reports to Project Managers.
You will ensure all documentation provided is as per Client quality formatting requirements. Formatting may include correcting templates, fonts and style, pagination and numbering and other activities that may be required to achieve a client's
You will ensure all templates used with the department conform to the Company standard.
You will keep track of all company records by looking through both hard files and computer database files on a regular basis.
Knowledge and Skills:
You should be an accomplished Document Controller with solid technical, organization, interpersonal and communication skills.
You should have knowledge of computer systems and their applications.
You should have sound analytical and problem-solving skills.
You should be able to work on multiple tasks and meet deadlines and respond to changing demands and to independently address assignments with minimal supervision.
You should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, able to adapt to rapid changes in a positive manner and work to tight deadlines.
Experience of working in a military environment or for an international facilities management services provider and other similar organisations would be ideal, as would experience of working in remote sites or in other arduous environments.
Finally, you should be pc literate, e.g. MS Office and be familiar with E document management systems and have a good working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat. Experience of AutoCAD and SharePoint is desirable. You should also possess a Drivers Licence.
This is an outstanding challenge for an accomplished Document Controller looking for something different.
The basic salary is paid in US dollars and is tax free for an Ex-Patriate employee. There is also an end of contract bonus.
A 12 month unaccompanied status contract is offered which includes free accommodation, laundry, local transport, insurances and meals. In addition, employees have the use of a phone to call family and friends and the internet for e-mails etc.
The R and R entitlement is 66 days and there are 3 free flights per year back to your home base. Mobilization and De-Mobilization flights are paid for by our client.
