This senior role is highly technical and crucial to our success. A leader with proven track record and extensive experience in your area, you’ll have a good knowledge of the U.K. Regulatory framework and understand both the intricacies and the wider impact of the specialism within the regulatory decision making process. You'll provide professional oversight and expert advice and lead on the continued development of the discipline.

As a respected technical leader in your discipline within the nuclear sector you’ll understand the UK regulatory framework and the regulatory decision making. You will adopt a collaborative approach in the regulatory decision making process and where required, resolve technical differences, working with a wide group of specialists. you’ll inspire best practice and instil confidence in your specialism, making sound judgements at pace. With excellent communication skills, you’ll foster effective and efficient working and successfully lead your discipline.
We offer competitive salaries at the ONR, with this role attracting a salary of £90,991 - £99,648. Furthermore, you’ll be eligible to join the Civil Service Pension scheme which includes ill-health retirement and lump sum family benefits. You'll also receive a very generous holiday entitlement.
ONR is a Public Corporation created to ensure the highest standards of safety and security across all of the UK’s licensed nuclear sites. Our inspectors are drawn from all manner of professional backgrounds including civil engineering, radiological protection, human factors, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering and nuclear physics. And together they’re involved in everything from assessing safety cases to planned inspections and advising licensees on areas that are difficult to regulate such as safety culture, leadership and vision.
