Able to perform robust analysis using recognised analytical tools and to make sound judgements based on experience
Has sufficient breadth of knowledge of warship design and the sound judgement needed to be able make correct trade-off decisions
Knowledge and experience of multiple aspects of naval architecture covering ship structure, stability, seakeeping, hydrodynamics, layout, seamanship and/or outfit.
Knowledge and experience of transverse engineering aspects such as survivability and safety as they interact with naval architecture
Knowledge and experience of how naval architecture interacts with other disciples such as marine and electrical engineering.
In-depth knowledge of the use of Classification Society rules and processes (preferably Lloyd's Register Naval Ship Rules).

    Essential Experience
    :a. Incorporated Engineer, or demonstrably working towards this;
  • Degree qualified in an engineering discipline relevant to the design and production of complex naval warships; and
  • Associate Member of a Professional Institution relevant to discipline

    Full Member of a Professional Institution relevant to discipline.
    Key Tasks
  • Contribute to engineering processes and procedures relevant to discipline.b. Carry out complex technical analyses and investigations, evaluate technical options, make recommendations, support engineering capability development.c. Prepare engineering deliverables in line with requirements and technical standards, and carry out design appraisals in assigned areas.d. Act as the main point of contact with customers and/or suppliers in assigned areas, to estabish priorities and to resolve complex issues.e. Support the preparation of high quality bids in area(s) of expertise.
  • Engineering design and analysis relevant to assigned scope to support overall ship designb. Support the application of BAE Lifecycle Management as tailored within Naval Shipsc.
