About the role

We currently have multiple opportunities to join our MAC Drill & Blast team in the role of Shotfirer. In this role, you will manage the high risk activities associated with explosives ensuring all shotfiring activities are carried out to the highest standards in line with our goal of Zero Harm.

Reporting to the Supervisor Blast, your duties will include:
  • All aspects of shotfiring duties including measuring, priming, loading, tie up and firing;
  • Managing explosives on the bench and at the magazine compound;
  • Maintaining of required blast inventory;
  • Planning, organising and assisting the shotfiring crew in all daily activities;
  • Possessing sound technical knowledge and experience in ancillary blast equipment operation;
  • Communication and interpersonal skills to enable interaction and good working relationships with all personnel;
  • Fostering a teamwork atmosphere within the work group;
  • Demonstrating a strong commitment to ensuring a safe workplace;
  • Maintaining high standards of safety, equipment serviceability, housekeeping and compliance with mine working procedures;
  • Sound knowledge of explosives legislation and standards.

About You

You must have a NSW Security Clearance for Handling Explosives and a Blasting Explosives Users Licence. You will be an experienced shotfirer with knowledge in Nonel and Electronic blasting usage. Solid communication skills and ability to work in an organised manner are a must. Key to your success will be your commitment to Health and Safety, your can-do attitude and your previous experience in a similar type role.
