Job Summary
AECOM is seeking a Project Controls Supervisor or Project Controls Manager to support a pending industrial/manufacturing project award located in the Phoenix, AZ region.

Support the Project Manager on a large automotive plant construction project

Level Specific Responsibilities:

Business Acumen
  • Proven ability to participate and add value to developing commercial strategies.
  • Oversees procedure development and implementation.
  • Requires a demonstrated ability to effectively lead the project controls function on a small to medium sized project.
  • Documents employee performance issues and participates in
  • resolutions as appropriate.
  • Assumes mentoring and training roles as requested.
Technical Skills
  • Reviews and approves output from project cost and schedule systems. Prepares or reviews presentations based on system output.
  • Creates and assists with cost schedule baseline.
  • Conducts or assists in performance measurement and associated cost trending.
  • Prepares and assists in various levels of project reporting. Key contributor in the preparation of monthly status
  • report.
  • Exhibits expert ability to use drawings and specifications in the establishment of project baseline data.
  • Possesses knowledge of construction accounting principles with an extensive understanding of the manner in which the company establishes and documents the financial position.
  • Assumes lead role in monthly production of revised project cost forecasting.
  • Utilizes extensive knowledge of construction contracting including the manner in which contract type effects implementation of project controls systems.
  • Reviews performance trends, prepares analysis and cost impact and monthly project performance reports, and recommends contractor invoices for approval.
  • Evaluates manpower, labor hour, and labor cost requirements versus budget limitations. detailed change order status.
  • Knowledgeable of scope control and change management.
  • Maintains the tracking database to insure that subcontractor funding is aligned with work authorization and expenditures.
  • Involved in directing and implementing the tracking system to insure that Project Management team is fully aware of detailed change order status.
  • Seeks appropriate counsel as required to meet project requirements.
  • Expert level - Planning & Scheduling and Cost Analysis software.

Minimum Requirements
Project Controls Supervisor

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction, business or related field, or demonstrated equivalent and related experience.
  • Entrants to this position require 8 years of experience with engineering, procurement and construction projects or operating industrial facilities.
  • Must have both cost and schedule experience with 2 years in whichever discipline is secondary.
  • Some field experience required with 5 years preferred.
  • Requires demonstrated ability to effectively lead a technical organization of at least two planning/scheduling and/or cost analysis personnel to support company and project


Project Controls Manager

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction, business or related field, or demonstrated equivalent and related experience.
  • Entrants to this position require 10 years of experience with engineering, procurement and construction projects and operating industrial facilities.
  • 5 years of experience with cost, schedule and supervision responsibilities.
  • Some field experience required with 5 years preferred

Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced analytical skills .... problem solver.
  • Automotive experience
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (oral and written)
