Job Summary
AECOM is seeking a Electrical Apprentice 2 to be based in our Fort Hills, Alberta location.

This position will install, alter, repair and maintain electrical systems designed to provide heat, light, power, control, signal or fire alarms for all types of buildings, structures and premises.

May include the following responsibilities:
  • Be able to take directions, and receptive to training and mentoring;
  • Proficiently identify and work with various material components;
  • Proficient conduit skills;
  • Plan circuitry routing and installation;
  • Read and comprehend drawings and specifications;
  • Proficient tool usage, both personal (personal tools minimum listed below) and supplied;
• Tool pouch
• Side cutters
• Wire strippers
• Philips screwdriver
• Hacksaw
• Stakon pliers
• Linesman pliers
• Water pump pliers
• Chanel locks
• Tape measure
• Needle nose pliers
• #6 screwdriver - Robertson
• #8 screwdriver - Robertson
• Terminating screwdriver
• Small flat screwdriver
• Large flat screwdriver
• Knife
• Level
  • Understand grounding requirements;
  • Basic electrical service knowledge;
  • Working with multiple types of installations;
  • Implement safe work practices and procedures;
  • Maintain exceptional workmanship habits;
  • Introduction and implementation of safe Multi-meter usage;
  • Introduction to ARC Flash awareness;
  • Mentor junior apprentices.

Camp accommodations and travel allowance are available for this position.

This is a 14-7 shift position.

Minimum Requirements
  • Current Registered Trade Apprentice
  • CSTS (Construction Safety Training Systems) or PST (Petroleum Safety Training)

Preferred Qualifications
May include some or all dependent on site:
  • H2S Alive
  • First Aid - Standard Level
  • CSE (Confined Space Entry)
  • Fall Arrest and/or Fall Protection (OSSA issued ticket is the general requirement)
  • AWP - Aerial work platform
