Petrofac is recruiting a staff Control, Electrical & Instrument Engineer based in Great Yarmouth

The Role:

This position will be onshore at our Great Yarmouth Office with vendor, onshore & offshore visits required. The role will manage and provide technical support and implementation of maintenance and project work associated with control, electrical & instrument systems. The position will entail supervision of technicians and sub-contractors and working closely with operations and other discipline engineers.

Specific duties include:

  • ensuring installation integrity, reliability, availability and maintainability of control, electrical and instrument equipment is optimized, so that safety & production targets can be achieved
  • acting as Technical Authority for Control, Electrical & Instrument Systems
  • co-ordination with operations personnel for planned and corrective maintenance of Control, Electrical and Instrument equipment
  • ensuring, by audit, that all switching of LV and HV is in accordance with operational procedures, safety principles, legal requirements and that all registers are maintained accurately
  • maintaining comprehensive records of performance, trends and failures
  • responsibility for ensuring system or software changes are carried out in line with the change control procedure

Candidates must have an Engineering qualification to HND standard or equivalent in Electrical, Electronics or Software and be a member of a relevant professional engineering institution (IEE, InstMC). Applicants should have extensive experience, preferable offshore, of control, electrical and instrument maintenance with specific emphasis on electrical power generation and control systems.
Candidates should have knowledge of SCADA, control systems and components used in the oil and gas industry, in particular GE, Schneider and Siemens, and also knowledge of IEC 61131-3 programming languages such as ladder logic or function block, communication techniques and protocols.
