Petrofac is recruiting an Onshore Electrical Technician based at the Point of Ayr Terminal

Petrofac's Offshore Engineering & Operations business has been supporting the Eni Operation at Liverpool Bay since early construction and operational start-up. Petrofac provides both operations and maintenance personnel both onshore and offshore in support of the Liverpool Bay Development in the Irish Sea. This includes: the Douglas Platform, Offshore Storage Installation, Point of Ayr Terminal and the Duty Holder contract for the Irish Sea Pioneer (Offshore Support Vessel). The Irish Sea Pioneer (ISP) is a jack-up support vessel located off the North Wales coast in the Irish Sea and supports operations within Liverpool Bay.

The Role:

We are currently recruiting a staff Onshore Electrical Technician based at Point of Ayr Terminal. The Electrical Technician will report into the Maintenance Supervisor for maintenance of all process systems. This role will also be responsible for carrying out isolations/de-isolations as required and perform preventive and restorative maintenance duties on electrical systems and equipment. Applicants must live within an hour of the terminal for Emergency Response duties.

Specific duties include:

  • responsible for emergency team training and assisting with the initial response to asset emergencies
  • raising work orders and work permits as appropriate to progress work. When appointed will act as Senior Authorised Electrician for electrical permit approval
  • continually monitor, adjust and record parts of plant to ensure the electrical distribution and generation are within specification
  • identify suitable standards of isolation and equipment preparation prior to handover for maintenance to either core crew or third parties as per client Electrical safety rules
  • prioritise Preventive Maintenance work as necessary to accommodate unforeseen corrective maintenance tasks to enable safety and production to be sustained and/or restored and downtime to be minimised
Candidates must have previous experience in an Electrical Technician role with COMPEX certification. The successful candidate must have an ONC level 'Electrical' or equivalent qualification and have successfully completed a recognised apprenticeship scheme. Knowledge of the following is required: PTW Systems, REP and OPITO Emergency Response Standards, Electricity at Work Regulations, EX Electrical / Instrumentation equipment maintenance, HV Switching, process fundamentals and finally experience of using a SAP system would be an advantage.
