Petrofac is recruiting Onshore Control Room Operator based at the Point of Ayr Terminal

Petrofac's Offshore Engineering & Operations business has been supporting the Eni Operation at Liverpool Bay since early construction and operational start-up. Petrofac provides both operations and maintenance personnel both onshore and offshore in support of the Liverpool Bay Development in the Irish Sea. This includes: the Douglas Platform, Offshore Storage Installation, Point of Ayr Terminal and the Duty Holder contract for the Irish Sea Pioneer (Offshore Support Vessel). The Irish Sea Pioneer (ISP) is a jack-up support vessel located off the North Wales coast in the Irish Sea and supports operations within Liverpool Bay.

The Role:

We are currently recruiting staff Onshore Control Room Operator based at Point of Ayr Terminal. The Control Room Operator will report into the Production Supervisor for the safe, efficient & cost effective operation of the installation production, DCMS, ESD, F&G systems and process and undertake emergency response duties as defined by the Company's Emergency Procedures. Applicants must live within an hour of the terminal for Emergency Response duties.

Specific duties include:

  • delivery of on-specification hydrocarbon exports
  • operate and manage Emergency Shutdown and Fire & Gas systems and associated cause and effects to be able to respond to alarms in the appropriate manner. Ensuring all procedures for application and use of inhibits and overrides are complied with at all times
  • issue, control and administer the installation's Permit to Work and related documentation systems, ensuring accurate and timely availability of such documentation
  • adjust production rates as necessary and/or required
  • monitor and oversee planned and unplanned shutdowns and associated start-ups via the central control panel ensuring plant and personnel safety at all times
  • ensure all planned or unplanned shutdowns and associated production loss is minimised

Candidates must have previous experience in a Control Room Operator role in the oil & gas industry or similar. The successful candidate must hold an NVQ L3 in Processing Hydrocarbons or equivalent. Knowledge of working with H2S/ Sulphur recovery would be advantageous.
