Purpose of Role
Managing and delivering the Estates Services function within budget and to meet contractual NA create a safe and stable environment to deliver a Zero Injury NA lead and complete the change program, to facilitate profitability, contract compliance, and effective delivery of the Hard Service Facilities Management NA innovate to create growth by realising available opportunities including Life NA includes the management of customer interface in relation to the estate; ensuring a high profile in the day-to-day running of the site, and provision of a consistently strong link with all key internal and external stakeholders. This would include internal and client senior management, guaranteeing appropriate and responsive reaction to address any and all client NA is an active and visible role requiring excellent customer relationship and supplier management skills. Working as part of a local senior management team within a business, the potholder will be expected to positively contribute to the performance, growth and profitability of the business acting as a champion for customer care at times .

Principal Accountabilities
• To manage an efficient, cost effective Estate Management function and ensure the provision of Estates Services is competitive on cost, budget, quality and responsiveness and to ensure the service is Client focused.•Lead the delivery of profit expectation, with full profit and loss accountability for the Estates element of the contract•Take responsibility for all Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental management. Participate in developing and maintaining and executing a Health, Safety, Environment and sustainability contract action plan.•Report regularly to the contract SMT on progress, key activities and expenditure against budget. To understand the monthly figures, taking proactive action to prevent losses and maximise profitability.•Take a positive and highly visible lead in developing relationships with the Client and to lead negotiations with the Client Project Team.•Develop a good working relationships with each shareholder/stakeholder of the project company• Lead and inspire the Estates team ensuring all employees have a current review and learning plan, that succession plans are in place and that the team is positively engaged.•Ensure that management by information is practised, that effective performance review structures are in place and that measurement and review drives Continuous Performance Improvement in maintenance performance adding value to both the business and the client.•To be a key contact and to build and maintain an effective and supportive working relationship with members of the wider Carillion team and colleagues both within The Hospital Company and Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust.• To create a culture of care in line with Carillion Services values through effective leadership, development and management of their team. •To support and lead the introduction of operational best practice into the contract.• To support the continuous review of supplier services and product range to provide best practice integrated services.•To manage the people resources effectively and efficiently to deliver the required services.•To ensure excellent communications with and motivation for all staff.•To ensure all new starters receive induction training in line with Company policies and procedures.• To ensure Objectives, Performance Reviews and Job Chats are completed as per standing company policyFull budget accountability for the delivery of estates services within the QAH contract. •Delivers elements within the contract business plan to achieve current year's performance•Inputs to planning activities with horizons of typically 1-2 years• Manages activities to support operational delivery and growth for the contract•Operates within agreed operational and/or management guidelines•Maintains effective internal and external client or user relationships within own area of responsibility•Delivers Health and Safety policy and standards• Implements Business Unit decisions and sets local priorities•Applies high level technical skills across a range of functional or business activitiesCarillion Services QAH Contract Senior Management Team• Relevant stakeholders – Trust (Customer) and Client (Project Co - The Hospital Company) •Carillion Services Support Functions•Direct Reports, Technical and Engineering Staff

  • Track record of success in delivering complex major projects.
  • A good leader, commercially and financially astute and with the ability to provide positive leadership and clear direction to a wide-ranging team.
  • Knowledge and experience of the commercial and legal structure of PFI / PPP or Framework.
  • Experience of successful working in or with the public sector and, if possible, the sector to which the project relates.
  • Educated to Degree level (or equivalent)
  • Likely to hold a further professional qualification to fellowship level
  • Possible Member of CIBSE
