Xperian Recruitment is looking for an experienced Development Manager to join an award winning ERP Software Company. Its market-leading, Oracle-based solution offers a compelling ERP proposition to a broad range of markets, which is, without doubt, why it has amassed a significant International client base.|
With 40 years experience and a healthy growth forecast, a Development Manager is required to join their team of over 400 staff.
Reporting to the Senior Development Manager, you will be challenged to lead and manage a team of 10 consisting of software engineers, development leads and technical leads.
The main purpose of this Development Manager role is to manage multiple projects focusing on planning, driving, owning and tracking deliverables.
You will be required to define development objectives and initiate action to meet them such as SDLC phase exit criteria, reporting and defects metrics.
You will have a remit to decide appropriate resourcing for project, including personnel and relevant hardware and software.
Ensure that the team is taking appropriate action in line with your plans and reporting on team progress
Understanding the wider roadmap and R&D project schedules and understanding where your own projects fit into the overall plan
Being involved in the recruitment and selection process to ensure the team is appropriately staffed
Manage the recruitment processes, including recruitment, induction, training, coaching/mentoring, staff appraisals/performance reviews, disciplinary issues and annual salary reviews.
Managing own departments budget
Representing the software engineering group in company, customer and partner meetings, which will involve UK wide and international travel.

Skills, experience and knowledge required for the Development Manager Position:
BSc degree or other numerate discipline
Experience working as a functional lead for a project team which includes software engineers and includes general management in day to day operations including problem or conflict resolution
Project management and delivery of commercial software using Agile Development
Experience of taking an active part in the SDLC from specification to delivery
Wide knowledge of technologies and infrastructure architectures
Full team management responsibilities including recruitment/interviewing experience
Experience of budgetary planning, management and delivery
Experience of Oracle based ERP software would be a distinct advantage
Understanding of the supply chain logistics market would be useful
Understanding of business finance/accounting would be useful
Please note due to travel a full UK licence is a requirement
Salary up to £60,000
Bonus (usually 8%)
