The team Inspect, plan and maintain the river network and flood defences throughout the country. The Asset Performance Teams (APT) inspect, maintain, improve and operate the river systems in the South East, From weirs to locks, from town flood defence schemes to pumping stations, working on a diverse and exciting range of projects and work helps to keep people and properties safe every single day. |
You will play an important part in managing flood defence assets. Under guidance from the National MEICA Engineering team, you'll manage the area's reactive and planned preventative maintenance programme of electrical and mechanical equipment, including any remedial work that's needed. You'll also be the first point of contact for all M&E issues in the area, offering general technical advice to colleagues, managing and site supervising small contractor-delivered improvement projects. This varied role includes raising specifications and contracts with M&E suppliers, assessing data and inspection reports and acting as an intelligent client on improvement projects.
You will be a time-served electrician or an electrician with comparable technical knowledge and industrial experience. To come from a background of installing, maintaining and diagnosing heavy commercial or industrial equipment. You should be qualified to HNC level (or equivalent), minimum Grade 4, with, ideally, a good working knowledge of industrial control systems, motor starters, PLCs, HMIs and pumps. The client would really like you to be keen to learn and pick up new skills - they'll support you financially and professionally to become an Incorporated Engineer if that's something that interests you. As well as strong attention to detail, you'll have excellent H&S awareness and impressive MS Office skills. You'll also need technical and project management skills, and are confident working with - and managing - contractors, consultants and internal teams.
A full UK driving licence is essential. You will be based in Addington near West Malling in Kent and will need to travel to offices and remote field locations throughout the Area.
