Supply Chain Manager

We are an established yet growing manufacturer of leading edge instrumentation supplying a global market. We have experienced considerable growth over the last two years and as a result of this growth and investment we are currently seeking a tenacious Supply Chain Manager to undertake a key role in the business.
In this exciting role you will be responsible for supporting our purchasing, materials, logistics and commercial activity through developing commodity strategies, careful supplier selection, performance monitoring, and setting up formalised supplier agreements.

As Supply Chain Manager this role has a particular emphasis on setting up clear systems and processes to facilitate our continued growth. As such you will have considerable autonomy to really make a mark and mould the supply chain. Strategic initiatives are also a focus given the seniority of the role.
As Supply Chain Manager your key accountabilities will include:

Coaching, mentoring, training and co-ordinating the activities of your team spanning planning, purchasing and logistics functions to fulfil overall business goals relating to quality, on-time delivery, customer satisfaction and margin improvement.
Supporting the Operations Manager to create and deploy supplier development models to enable effective Design to cost targets
Playing a key role in the new product development process to ensure streamlining and standardisation across products and full leverage of the supply base
Negotiation of purchasing agreements and ensuring Long Term Agreements (LTA's) are reviewed, negotiated and initiated within the supply chain
Developing and executing robust, efficient and effective documented business processes that support the strategy.
Working with internal and external logistics providers to meet they can meet business needs
Embedding lean / right first time methodologies into the supply chain such as 8D, PPAP etc.

To succeed in this varied, senior role you will be an experienced Supply Chain / Purchasing Manager with proven direct manufacturing purchasing expertise. HND/ Degree level qualification (or with commensurate work experience) in an engineering / technical subject and ideally CIPS qualified. Mechanical / electro-mechanical commodity expertise a working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems and reports, proven track record of achievement in a relevant position and the ability to lead and manage strategic and tactical procurement teams essential.
