Power System Engineer - The propulsion plant electrical group (D486) is leading the design, integration, and test of the electrical power distribution system for OHIO Replacement, and is seeking engineers to support successful ship integration and test of the OHIO Replacement propulsion plant electrical distribution system.

Responsibilities of power system engineers in D486 include:
• Systems engineering, analysis, and ship integration of advanced power electronic systems
• Oversight of electrical distribution system functional requirements, and managing a test verification matrix of these requirements. Developing and verifying system-level requirements based on modeling and simulation results
• Developing models of kilowatt- and megawatt-scale electrical power conversion and distribution equipment, test facility components, and system-level models that integrate several components and systems together, system identification, model verification and validation activities, stability analyses (small-signal via impedance methods, and large-signal via time-domain or analytical methods), power quality analyses, fault analyses
• Providing oversight of propulsion plant power cableway and sprayshield arrangements. The power system engineer is expected to aggressively identify and manage risks, and resolve problems associated with propulsion plant electrical equipment arrangement, cableways, and sprayshields.
• Interfacing with modeling and analysis groups to ensure that electrical distribution system requirements are being met, and address any risks or issues that are discovered by modeling and analysis work.
• Support the development and maintenance integrated logistics support products, including steam plant and reactor plant manuals for OHIO Replacement.
• Support of the OHIO Replacement electrical ships test program
• Support electrical distribution system test activities at the compatibility test facility. This may require travel to Philadelphia, PA.
• Developing calculation packages in accordance with Electric Boat technical directives.
• Analyzing and interpreting simulation results to generate analysis reports, calculation packages, and formal recommendation letters to our customers.
• Reviewing vendor technical analysis reports and EB-generated reports, and review of component specifications and deliverables
