Inspectors will be required to perform inspection duties in the various inspection areas throughout the facility. Candidates will be required to be trained in the Quality Control systems, procedures and will inspect incoming piece parts, components and perform various types of inspections on the hull sections. Types of inspections will or may include visual, dimensional, and nondestructive test attributes. Inspectors will also be required to verify and certify work is complete and satisfactory according to specifications and record and report inspection results. The successful candidate must be able to work all shifts, weekends and overtime as required. Inspectors are needed in every discipline: structural, piping, and mechanical. Every inspector will be required to obtain certification in MT. Upon successful completion if that, and demonstration of ability, inspectors may progress to mechanical work including dimensional & mechanical pretest, piping including pretest, as well as additional NDT certifications including PT.|
High school diploma/GED preferred. Additional preference given for Vocational, Technical and Community Colleges or Apprentice programs. Familiarity with Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) is preferred and desirable. Semi-Skilled/Skilled position. 2+ years of previous inspection/quality assurance experience is desired. Previous shipyard or manufacturing experience is preferred. Previous NDT experience preferred. Ability to read and interpret blueprints is required. Knowledge of shipboard assemblies, installations and foundations is preferred. Previous metal fabrication experience and military shipbuilding experience is preferred.
These positions will be both 1st and 2nd shift. Applicant must be granted a minimum of an interim secret clearance prior to position commencing. They must be able to obtain and maintain a final secret clearance to remain in that position. Must possess basic mathematical, communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to work all shifts, heights, confined spaces and extreme temperature conditions as required. Applicant will be required to work in a collaborative and team environment and meet organizational goals. Applicant must be able to interpret technical manuals, shipyard procedures, test documents, blueprints, diagrams, and understand basic layout functions. Individuals may be required to possess their own basic hand tools.
