The successful candidate will manage all work performed by Electric Boat’s Inside Machinists, who manufacture and assemble submarine mechanical components and precision parts on machine centers with CNC controls. This includes managing the daily activities of supervisors, providing daily direction, technical assistance, managing quality, safety, and cost to meet specific targets, and scheduling job tasks to meet projected schedules. Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for promoting and implementing process improvements. The successful candidate must, therefore, have excellent planning skills, be able to drive a team to meet targets, and communicate effectively with workers and all levels of management. The candidate will need to be knowledgeable of all safety requirements and ensure that they are adhered to by both hourly employees and supervisors. |
High School Education or equivalent required. Bachelors of Science in Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or related degree preferred. Five (5) or more years in a leadership role managing machinists is required. The candidate must have good computer, interpersonal, verbal and written skills and be capable of interfacing with the customer and senior management. Candidate must be willing to work all shifts and overtime as required. Experience running a Machine Shop is preferred to demonstrate the desired background in business planning, work execution, and customer relations. Must have the capability to obtain and maintain nuclear qualifications. Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of management and employees.
