Position is for a computer/network test engineer for the Signatures SECRET Network and other classified networks. The Signatures SECRET Network is a classified local area network (LAN) at the EB facility connected to a larger wide area network (WAN) at EB and Navy customer off-site locations across the US East Coast.
The candidate will be responsible for performing the following activities as a part of a 4-person IT team:
• Maintaining computer hardware, including desktop computers, and performing troubleshooting, repairs, new hardware installation and supporting new computer imaging to support at-sea and dockside testing, and engineering analysis activities
• Providing desktop user support
• Testing existing classified networks (daily, weekly, monthly test schedule) and performing pre-installation testing of new network hardware
• Interfacing with IT Contractor (Computer Sciences Corporation) to perform advanced troubleshooting and corrective action activities, as well as performing network hardware and desktop updates, computer imaging, hardware retirements and new hardware installation
• Maintaining servers and peripherals, including troubleshooting and repair
• Software maintenance (patches, license updates, installation, configuration, removal)
• Interpreting security requirements and evaluating, testing, deploying and verifying Group Policy Object settings using Windows Server
• Interfacing with EB Industrial Security and Compliance Office (ISCO) to ensure all invoked requirements are met and required security data is produced
• Interfacing with EB IT organization to execute project management activities and coordinate response to network outages
• Understanding and executing network security protocols and familiarity with cyber defense
• On-call duties and limited after hours and weekend support for scheduled outages and upgrades, as well as emergent issue resolution
Other areas of support may include fiber optic networking and LAN support; video teleconference and voice-over- IP (VTC/VOIP) troubleshooting, database maintenance, system security, and network vulnerability and intrusion testing. The position requires constant interface with system users, management, Navy and Navy prime contractor IT personnel, hardware and software vendors, purchasing agents and ISCO personnel.
