The Platform Systems Engineering department (D417) has an opening for a Systems Engineer to support the VIRGINIA Payload Module (VPM) program. The VPM will be added as a module to Block V VIRGINIA Class Submarines to increase ship strike capacity and flexibility. Incorporation of the VPM will ensure that strike and payload capability are maintained in the U.S. submarine fleet as SSGN ships are retired. The VPM program includes a complete design development cycle, from shipbuilder specification development through integrated logistic support (ILS) product and test form development. Platform Systems Engineering plays an important role in this effort by driving cross-discipline integration for the module and corresponding host ship modifications. The VPM design effort is currently underway and will extend through 2023 for ILS and test form development. |
