WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff has an immediate opening in the Tempe, Arizona office for a full time planner with at least eight (8) years of experience in transportation and urban planning or a related field. The successful candidate will support a variety of transportation and land use/economic development planning activities that will include urban design and policy development, transit planning and operations, traffic analysis and corridor planning. Work will require contact with government agencies, contractors, private developers, the public and other WSP | PB personnel.

Under the guidance of a planning manager, responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
      • Supporting strategic planning services to define investment strategies for clients in corporate, commercial, civic, institutional, and healthcare market sectors related to transportation and land use decisions
      • Establishing planning and programmatic solutions for complex transportation and land use projects including multimodal transportation enhancements, sustainable design, master planning assignments at community and regional levels for both rural and urban conditions
      • Preparing and managing projects including preparing scope and fee proposals, and budgets, quality plans, work schedules and project staffing
      • Conducting research, analysis, and planning activities related to multimodal transportation, land use, economic development and the relationship among them
      • Coordinating with other staff performing planning and analysis activities
      • Authoring technical reports, papers, drawings and maps, and memos as needed
      • Preparing and delivering presentations, handouts, and other public information sheets
      • Participating in and leading public meetings related to project work and advancement of the technical practice
      • Guiding and mentoring other staff

Job Requirements
Education Required:
      • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Planning, Urban Design, Architecture, Civil Engineering, or related field
Experience/Skills Required:
      • Minimum of eight (8) years of experience, preferably more
      • Knowledge of planning and urban design principles and practices
      • Knowledge of principles and practices of research and data collection
      • Superior organizational and problem-solving skills
      • Detail-oriented with careful attention to accuracy and deadlines
      • Ability to work independently, without detailed direction, and to handle multiple responsibilities on several tasks simultaneously
      • Ability to work consistently at a fast pace while adapting to changing priorities
      • Ability to guide and manage other staff
      • Well-honed ability to work collaboratively on a team
      • Excellent written and oral communication skills
      • Strong computer and graphic design skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office, and the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)
      • Strong graphic thinking skills for preparing PowerPoint presentations/stories, illustrative reports, and framework diagrams to explain concepts
Desired Qualifications:
      • Practical experience in ArcGIS and Sketch-up
      • Hand drawing and/or perspective drawing skills
      • Professional licensure or registration: AICP or PE
