Design Engineer Salary: 25,000 Permanent Hours: Full-time Monday - Friday Location: Burnopfield, Newcastle upon Tyne Sector: Manufacturing This is a permanent opportunity for established Design Engineer to work for a global manufacturer. This business is an international leader in design and equipment manufacturing for commercial spaces. The purpose of this role will be to design and develop innovative cost effective shelving solutions for varied and demanding market sectors and to identify cost saving opportunities within existing designs. You will have a modern refurbished working environment in addition to a professional and dedicated team. There will also be the real chance of progression and development for your role. The Role: You will be responsible for the design and development of tailor made and new product solutions. Key Responsibilities Design and develop innovative solutions both in sheet metal work and timber using 3D CAD packagesProject manage projects from conception through to engineering release/production deliveryImpart knowledge through design reviews to ensure current and future are robust and value engineered ideas are produced in a timely mannerManage engineering change and non-conformanceCheck engineering release packs for drawing/model inconsistenciesIdentify existing designs where value engineering opportunities existInfluence by "v" manufacture NA in new product development reviewsChair/participate in various meetings; internally, with suppliers and customers. Key Skills & Attributes Actively participate in developing the use of 3D CAD system standardisation and capabilities (Vault/I parts)Research new technologies that would benefit the businessLiaise with various departments throughout the company and suppliers to highlight and take advantage of value engineering opportunitiesManage own workload/reallocation of work as requested by the Senior Design EngineerUndertake site visits and surveys as and when required (both in the UK and abroad)Support supplier/vendor assessments for purchased componentsUndertake additional duties as requested by the Technical Services Manager
