Marine Engineer (Safety) A successful FTSE 100 engineering support services organisation is looking to take on a Marine Safety Engineer to work within the Submarine In-Service Safety Group to support the UK Royal Navy Submarine Flotilla now and into the future. The Job Based in Bristol, you will be responsible for defining and reviewing the material state issues and highlight the safety impact of these systems. You will be a competent marine engineer with a solid grounding in safety, having the ability to ensure that the engineering outputs are delivered to the meet the necessary safety requirements. You will continually seek to improve the efficiency and quality of service of the safety group and provide technical reviews to ensure the correct level of quality is achieved. As a core member of a 10 person strong team, you will support design change activities, raise and maintain safety requirement statements and assess design change safety assessment reports. The Requirements We are looking for a competent marine engineer who has a strong knowledge of submarine (or warship) systems who can understand and appreciate the safety implications. Training will be provided in order to become SQEP'd within the safety field, but a grounding in safety and knowledge of ALARP principals and safety cases is highly desirable. Marine Engineer; Ex forces well suited, ideally submariner but will consider warship experience also. (Ideally suited to ranks from PO-WO / CAT B), will consider a mix of Electrical, Mechanical and Weapon backgrounds. Safety appreciation; have an understanding of ALARP Principals and Safety Cases MOD knowledge; experience working with the MoD and have an understanding of JSP430 IT literate; be proficient in MS Office and able to learn internal IT packages. Academic qualification; will consider a range of backgrounds, ideally have HND/HNC as a minimum, but will also consider experience..
