About the Company Our Class 395 Javelin trains currently in operation on the HS1 route have proven our capability in the UK, based on a blend of British and Japanese technical expertise. The Intercity Express Programme, Abellio ScotRail franchise and contracts with First Group for their West of England and Transpennine routes will see our teams deliver over 200 new trains over the next two years. We are now looking to expand our operations further to build upon our global reputation for quality, reliability, innovation, design and technological NA the Role This role will sit within the Testing Operations team and it will manage various testing programmes throughout the UK and NA will report into the Programme Test Manager, driving the development of the train testing strategy and programme with internal customers whilst building positive relationships with stakeholders and approvals bodies. You will also plan and instigate test train operations and infrastructure access (on and off Network Rail) to support the test programmes. This role will manage supplier selection and contract management of suppliers of testing services necessary, to deliver the test programme and have budget and cost control of test contracts, including the management of contract variations as required. You will also be responsible for recruitment and development of an effective testing team to support the test projects, as well as future NA will be important to establish and maintain positive relationships with the factory facilities and customers project teams within our multi-cultural environment. You will also ensure all company safety, quality, environmental, commercial and project management procedures are followed and relevant to tasks undertaken.(We are recruiting for a contract and permanent role) We are seeking the following experience ,skills and qualifications :- A self-starter with ability to develop strong, constructive and focused relationships with internal and external stakeholders is essential. Previous significant experience in the field of train engineering including some aspects of train operations is essential. Strong Project management and testing experience in railway industry engineering is highly desirable. Proven ability to work successfully in a multi-disciplinary team and demonstrate excellent negotiation skills; including integration within all levels within the organisation structure is essential. Experience of and skilled in the use of Microsoft Office products in a technical environment is essential. Flexibility to travel in the UK to manage phases of the testing programmes is essential. Some global travel is possible. Able to represent Hitachi in a professional manner at all times is essential. Ideally educated to degree level in a relevant engineering discipline, alternatively a respectable grade in a relevant engineering or management qualification. Membership of a relevant professional body desirable e.g. IMechE
