Cost Estimating Engineer Reading 40000 - 45000pa Scope of Role The purpose of this role is to manage and own the cost estimating process. The Company has been trading within a niche market for over 50 years and investment in recent years means we are well placed to continue to grow in terms of taking market share from our competitors both in the UK and Europe. The Company has enjoyed an impressive record of sales growth in recent years. This role requires someone with a broad set of skills encompassing technical with commercial and most importantly with the ability to bridge the gap between the various departments within the company to come up with the best solution. It is envisaged that you will become the expert in your field. Day to day you will be supporting the sales team by reacting to customer enquiries both new and repeat. We serve many different market sectors so each enquiry is different as is our offering. Longer term as you develop your technical skills your expertise may be called upon in other areas within the business and there is the opportunity to develop and contribute to commercial activities within the business with this in mind you will need to be able to write and develop the company spreadsheets, you will therefore possess advanced excel skills. Your technical aptitude will ensure that you understand the product and are able to talk to clients about any issues they may have. Specific Accountabilities From enquiry/technical drawings raise quotation on CRM package, establish project feasibility as well as best route of manufacture. Obtain material prices and ascertain job history or comparatives if applicable. Investigate market offering of others, drive getting information internally to ensure quick quotation turnaround time. Look at offering commercially taking into account such factors as market forces, lead time, technical offering, discuss with sales team pricing proposals. Ensure quotation is accurate and ready to be signed off within deadline. Contribute both technically within the organisation on suggestions for process improvements as well as commercially within the sales team as to pricing strategies.
