JOB DESCRIPTION Senior Audio Visual Technician Department: Support Services, Audio Visual Dept. Reports: AV Technicians (4) Reports to: AV Manager, Head of Conferences & Events Key areas of influence: This new role requires supervision of a team of 4 AV technicians and any temporary/ freelance/agency technicians hired by the AV department. The role also requires setting up, operation and support of the audio-visual facilities (and users of those facilities) in the AV control room and all lecture theatres and meeting rooms at our clients site. The senior technician will work with another senior technician and the video production supervisor reporting to the AV manager. BACKGROUND INFORMATION Our client is a 210 year old charity with over 22,000 members. The client is based in central London, just behind Oxford Street. At our clients primary site there are 3 purpose built lecture theatres and 15+ other meeting spaces. At the second site there are 6 further multi-purpose meeting/events spaces. Our client offers good benefits to staff and a friendly working environment. The AV department is responsible for overseeing AV arrangements for all conferences and meetings held at the sites - both those organised by the Academic and Conferences sections and those organised by external bodies hiring client facilities. The Academic / external client split is 60/40. This new role is in response to an increase in our clients AV business both internal and external, an increase in AV team members and to the on-going development and implementation of the AV / event technology used at the sites. KEY OUTCOMES: Assist the AV manager in managing the operation, delivery, maintenance and development of the audio-visual facilities and services at our clients sitesProvision of high quality, professional and knowledgeable AV support and advice to the users (both internal and external) of the clients facilities before, during and after an event. This will include demonstrating an expert knowledge of MS PowerPoint, Apple Keynote or other presentation utilities in all current and future releases. Use reasonable endeavours to meet or exceed the expectations of clients including liaising with clients before, during and post events and develop and promote a positive customer service ethic within the AV Department. KEY OBJECTIVES: Providing first-line support, including on-the-spot diagnosis and rectification/repair of minor faults and problems as and when they occur and escalating faults to / and liaising with, the contracted service supplier when NA with clients both internal and external to provide advice and guidance for their audio visual requirements for future meeting and event bookingsEnsure AV resources and staff are appropriately provided at all times including creating the weekly schedule and staff NA of installation, implementation and roll out projects of new equipment and services including training of AV technicians and other relevant staff/NA to development of in-house AV ,event technology and services by research using resources both on-line and printed, supplier/manufacturer meetings and industry seminars and NA the cleanliness and presentation of all AV rooms, stores and equipmentSupervising on-going preventative maintenance and routine servicing of AV NA and maintaining on line records and NA management Undertake duties with a full understanding of the Health & Safety implications, attending H&S training where necessary Using all opportunities to promote and sell AV services including client show rounds and working with the 1 Wimpole Street marketing NA ensure the security of all AV equipment in the building whether owned by the Society or hired from nominated NA supervise the running of the AV department in the absence of the AV NA of AV Technicians including conducting regular team NA duties compatible with employment may be given by the AV Manager or Conference and Events Manager RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT: Working closely with another Senior AV Technician, Video Production Supervisor and AV Manager Working with the Support Services Events office and staff in the Academic Department to ensure efficient communication between clients both external and internalWorking with 3rd party suppliers to ensure smooth combination of service provision from them and the in-house team ,for the NA and optimise opportunities for upselling AV services to internal/external clients - working closely with the events office and marketing executive.
