An Electrical Systems Engineer is required to join an Innovative Automotive Systems Technology Company on a Contract basis. The Electrical Systems Engineer will have the responsibility to design appropriate electrical schematics for the vehicle, within the limitations of customer design and manufacturing requirements. The Electrical Systems Engineer will design electrical systems and circuits in line with the required timing, resolving all engineering issues in a cost efficient manner. The Electrical Systems Engineer will work alongside the Project Engineer to ensure the design of the wire harness, and also will report to the Engineering Project Lead. Technical Skills, Experience and Responsibilities for the Electrical Systems Engineer- Create and maintain electrical schematics utilising customer tools such as ECAD - Generate and customise designs to support ECAD/MCAD process - Meet customer specifications in regards with wire dimensioning and fuse selection - Support Wire harness, Junction box teams and support the build across the different series - Prepare the system modification sheet to track the design changes - Responsible for schematics release according to the customer requirements - Define the wire harness complexity together with the WH design - Attend design reviews to secure correct output to the plant - Participate in the customer FMEA, Customer Project and Engineering meetings - Must have a strong sense of ownership of complete system solution Requirements for the Electrical Systems Engineer- Degree or equivalent in electrical or electronic discipline - Familiar with release process and Quality tools such as APQP, DFMEA, and 8D - A good cost understanding and ability to read/use engineering specifications and drawings - Experience with ECAD tools for schematics drafting - Experience within electrical systems design in the automotive industry 3-5 years minimum - DFMEA practical experience and knowledge - Electrical harness engineering background - Team player and methodical in approach - Be an effective communicator - Able to demonstrate highly developed interpersonal and negotiation skills - Ability to work under pressure - Be flexible in approach and a Self-Starter - Demonstrate good problem solving ability If you feel you meet the requirements for the role of the Electrical Systems Engineer then apply directly or contact Peter Heap at Jonathan Lee Recruitment.
