A UK subsidiary of a major European brand and the leader in its sector of the manufacture of components to the automotive industry, whose customers include major OEMs worldwide. From their purpose built plant located on the outskirts of Sheffield, a permanent opportunity has arisen within their transport department for a German speaking Material Planner. The role will encompass the following duties: Dedicated first point of contact for designated customers and suppliers Process customer orders efficiently and accurately on a daily basis Control stock at all levels of production Ensure all customer orders are processed & delivered on time Ensure stock levels for both components and finished goods are kept to a minimum Communicate effectively with external and internal contacts regarding orders Place orders with overseas suppliers according to customer demand and production Prepare statistical analysis and reports as and when required Plan workload in advance following a yearly cycle, although ad-hoc queries may take priority over planned tasks The nature of work varies considerably each month depending on deadlines. Yearly cycles do not vary greatly and the knowledge and experience gained from previous years enables effective planning Plan most work 3 months in advance to meet departmental objectives and internal/external deadlines Plan much of the workload up to 3 days ahead Prioritise own work as there are often conflicting priorities to deal with Prioritise unscheduled requests for work according to actual need Plan and organise stock levels Candidates will have the following skills/experience: Educated to GCSE level with Maths and English; Supply Chain & Logistics/Business Studies 2:1 min desirable Solid background in Logistics Approximately 1-3 years experience is needed to perform the job at a competent level Proven experience of managing customer orders & developing a rapport with customers Experience of working in a multi-site environment (desirable) Highly experienced in working under own initiative, demonstrating an ability to set & meet personal targets, combined with the flexibility to adjust to workload priorities to take account of new deadlines Interpersonal and communication skills and a commitment to customer service, and building effective working relationships Awareness of wider Company issues and relevant legislation. Required to keep informed of changes in legislation and departmental policy to deliver correct advice Ability to organise and prioritise workload, maintain confidentiality, and produce/process documents accurately Fluent speaker of German language Good written and numerical skills IT knowledge, including e-mail, Word, Excel, and SAP Communication skills to deal effectively with customers Ability to handle difficult situations and deal confidently & appropriately with both internal & external customers, both in person & on the telephone A flexible approach to work, along with the ability to work as part of a team The position, comes with the following perks and company benefits!: A competitive salary, commensurate with experience level A company bonus scheme % of salary Pension Healthcare On site car parking 6 weeks standard holiday entitlement
