Multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer - Electrical BiasMy client is the globally leading automobile supplier in acoustic and thermal management for vehicles with an annual turnover of 150 Million in the UK, and globally around 2 billion. They develop and produce multi-functional and lightweight components and systems for noise and heat protection and thereby enhances vehicle comfort. MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB To maintain and repair all plant machinery and equipment to the highest possible standard using pro-active methods such as Predictive/ Preventative maintenanceProject work to improve plant efficiencyTo flex own working pattern where required to support departmental holiday and sickness coverShift work to cover three shifts and additional weekend working as requiredCall outs to cover emergency repairs MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES Ensure breakdowns are responded to in a timely manner and any follow up actions are carried outImproving equipment as part of the Continuous Improvement cultureEnsure Maintenance records are kept up to date including daily work sheets and maintenance work databaseAttend shift change over meetings to discuss the daily workCarrying out planned maintenance work against TPM planContribute to the improvement and development of the planned maintenance systemOrganise and liaise with contractors, raising permits to work when and where requiredSupport and Facilitate PPS/PFU activities to identify root causes of deficits and manage the achievement of relevant corrective actionsWork flexibly and carry out additional duties as requiredTo maintain a safe working environment and actively support the continuing development of a safety culture across the site SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE Understanding of automotive manufacturers practicesGood, sound mechanical/electrical engineering background, ie an understanding of manufacturing processes, (automotive experience an advantage)Basic knowledge of business and quality systems in the automotive sectorComprehensive understanding of equipment- electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic systems and their limitations NA to understand modern engineering philosophies, for example Kaizen, Poke Yoke, 5s, standardised work, FMEA, ISO14001, TS16949 NA Certificate in Engineering or equivalentCertification in the latest wiring regulationsKnowledge and understanding and the ability to fault find PLC Systems, HMIs, Dc drives, Inverter controls and safety control systems (mainly Siemens/Mitsubishi)Knowledge and competent in fault finding burner controls/gas systemsUnderstanding of data networks SKILLS Self motivated pro-active approach demonstrating enthusiasm and initiativeBe an organised and a tidy individual who embraces changeTeam playerExcellent verbal and written communicator at all levels of the organisationTime management and planning skillsFirst aid certification beneficialFLT licence beneficialMewp licence beneficial EXPERIENCE 3 years post qualification experienceExperience within first or second tier supply automotiveExperience of a pressurised working environment and producing quick and beneficial results JUDGEMENT AND DECISIONS Utilise own judgement as well as collective team judgements, ensuring that Health and Safety are not compromised or that the plant, personnel and equipment are not put at riskShould not be afraid to seek advice from others when required and proactive enough to source the help ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Able to use Windows based software packages for example Word, Excel, PowerPointThe drive to learn and train in areas of weaknessPositive outlook
