Due to their workload and growth of the business my client based in Sandy require a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team on a contract basis for a minimum of 8 weeks but they are confident as per previous times it could last for a longer period. Main purpose of the job To carry out the duties associated with issuing mechanical, pneumatic/hydraulic parts for build, including producing designs, drawings and parts lists to meet customer specifications. Responsibilities: Create value engineered design solutions against agreed technical specifications for all projectsUndertake mechanical design calculations where required i.e. bending moments, stress NA potential product improvements and support implementationLiaise with relevant person(s) to ensure that customer requirements are understood and interpreted correctlySupport other departments notably Purchasing, Production and Project Management Production of full assembly models, detail drawings and BOMs (Bills of Material)Management of own workload to ensure target design deliveries are metPerform customer site visits when required for design reviews and factory auditsIdentification of any improvement to working practices within the Mechanical Design team Requirements: HNC/HND Engineering qualification or equivalent experienceMinimum of 3 years' experience using 3D CADAbility to understand customer and technical requirements and establish the impact on the entire designMinimum of 5 years' experience in a machine design role within medium duty engineeringIT literate with experience of MS Outlook, Word and ExcelAbility to work in a team environment with a positive attitudeExcellent organisational and planning skills to meet agreed project timescales Desirable for this role: Proficient user of SolidWorksKnowledge of fabrication, machining and assembly techniquesExperience in the packaging industry, labelling, capping, vertical form fill seal machines or conveyingMinimum of 5 years' experience in a "special purpose" machine design roleTime served apprenticeship Please send your CV to in the first instance or call Aaron on .
