Hydraulic Design Engineer Designing new products in accordance with relevant company and international standards, checking/verifying suitability of designs with regards to strength and function. To generate detail mechanical designs, utilizing appropriate materials and design standards, together with supporting calculations to verify the integrity of the design. Main Responsibilities Include: HR To ensure the efficient use of departmental resourcesLiaise and work alongside Engineering Department StaffTo ensure the efficient use of your working time to achieve company targetsTo maintain good attendance and timekeeping at all timesTo promote to all employees good work practices and standardsTo continually improve work through training, ongoing work experience and appraisals Sales Always promote the company and good image of your department when offsite or in the company of clients, friends and acquaintancesEnsure departmental resources are available to execute projectTo support the sales department in technical proposals and client meetings when requested Finance In conjunction with Company Accountant receive, monitor and review and implement individual project costings to ensure projects are operating within budget and will be delivered within budgetManage Variation Order Request (VOR) according to proceduresProvide professional judgment on product pricing, supporting the company in achieving maximum profitable product salesSafeguard tangible and intangible assetsImplement and Manage that all Engineering purchases, goods and services have an allocated PO, which has been raised in accordance with the Purchasing procedures Operations Work according to Departmental Priority ListOversee equipment design according to company and Client specificationEnsure equipment designs fulfill company and customer specificationMaintaining Drawing ControlMaintain quality procedures into the design processInstigate and manage meetings for projects as requiredProvide Reports and Information to BOM and Engineering Support Operations Manager on overall project progressAssist in the stock management, selection, sales and utilization levels of stock materials, components and assemblies for utilization on projects where possibleTo create and maintain project technical construction files HSEQ Implement controls identified by risk and impact assessmentImplement procedures and use safe work instructionsUse and maintain PPE appropriatelyUse and maintain tools and equipment correctlyMaintain good housekeeping standardsReport accidents, incidents and near missesReport faults to facilities or equipment QUALITY Understanding of the importance of meeting customer needs and statutory and regulatory requirementsUnderstanding and implementation of the QMS requirements within their scope of workComplementing relevant QMS processes and proceduresCompleting inspection of work and ensuring QMS documentation is completed SECURITY Ensure individual work areas, machines and stations are secure when not in use. External Relations To represent the company in the face of clients and 3rd party representatives ensuing professionalism is maintained at all times Accountabilities Budgetary/Financial Accountable for cost control within department Personnel/staff: NA HSEQ: Accountable for personal health and safetyAccountable for your standard and quality of workAccountable for adherence to applicable HSEQ standards within the department Operational: Accountable for designing new products in accordance with relevant company and international standards and checking/verifying suitability of designs with regards to strength and function Person Specification Qualifications Essential: HND in Mechanical Engineering Preferred: Degree in Mechanical Engineering Chartered Status Knowledge & Experience Essential: Knowledge of designing Heavy Machinery Knowledge of rotating equipment design Competent creating mechanical design calculation packages IT literate with Microsoft Package Experience Preferred: Experience in the design of any of the following product lines: Drum Winches, Linear Winches, HPUs, Tensioners, Reel Drive Systems. Experience designing to DNV 2.22, DNV 2.7-3, DNV 2.7-1. Experience selecting bearings, shafts, gears, etc. Knowledge of International Winch and Deck Machinery markets, products and associated drive and power systems (including applications) Offshore experience Offshore survival BOSIET \ Medical \ MIST Skills Essential: Ability to perform mechanical stress calculations Professional verbal communication Constructive Time Management including prioritization Experience using MathCAD Confident presenting design reviews to peers and clients Preferred: Experience using Autodesk Inventor (or similar) Experience using Autodesk AutoCAD Experience using FEA (Autodesk Inventor or similar) Experience using STAAD. Qualities Essential: Ability to communicate and work with others amicably Ability to work on own initiative and also as a team member Ability to work under pressure, set and achieve deadlines Ability to motivate staff under their control Preferred: Exceptional people management skills Training Quality Management System Health & Safety Policy External Training as required Skills Essential: AutoCAD conversant Reasonable knowledge of manufacturing techniques Qualities Essential: Ability to communicate and work with others
