Enigma People Solutions is exclusively recruiting a Firmware Engineer for our market leading and globally recognised client based in Livingston. Working among a team of experienced Firmware Engineers and reporting to the Software Group Leader your tasks will include: Software coding in C or C++ to implement firmware projects as defined by the Project Manager. Contributing to firmware design for firmware projects. Creation and maintenance of code libraries for reusable code. Testing of new and modified code. Running test scripts. Reviewing and updating test scripts. Logging defects according to company procedures. Reproducing and diagnosing reported defects. Customer interfacing during the course of the development. Occasional travel may be required To be of interest you will come with current or recent commercial experience of programming in C or C++ on embedded devices. Necessary Skills Development, test and debug of code in C on an MCU platform Experience of Bare Metal Microcontrollers Experience of working with version control systems Able to work in a team, but with minimal direct supervision Able to follow established working practices / standards Desirable skills Use of version control system, e.g. SVN Bug tracking tool experience (Bugzilla, Jira, Trac, etc...) ADC (and/or DAC) device development Integration of MEMS devices Familiarity with digital interconnects such as I2C, SPI, etc. ARM and/or MSP430 MCU family experience Use of low power, short range industrial wired/wireless protocols(wHART, Zigbee, RS485, etc...) Use of GSM/GPRS modules Code Composer Studio or Eclipse familiarity Embedded/C unit test framework, ideally CUnit Experience with publish/subscribe telemetry protocols (e.g. MQTT) Exposure to full product development lifecycle (requirements->design->coding->integration...) Task estimation/work breakdowns of firmware tasks for project planning Working as part of a SCRUM/Agile team Experience developing condition monitoring/online protection systems Benefits package includes: Hours: 37.5 per week (Monday to Friday) Flexi scheme in operation Holidays: 25 days annual leave rising to 26 after completing one full calendar year then rising to 28 days after 5 years service Pension: Defined Contribution pension scheme, Employer contributions are 10% on joining employees don't need to contribute but if they do this is on a salary exchange arrangement Bonus: Non contractual bonus arrangement of up to 10% of the basic salary.
