Supplier Technical Assistance (STA) Engineer - Mechanical - Automotive - MidlandsA Supplier Technical Assistance (STA) Engineer is required by renowned design/manufacturer of high precision automotive components. As part of a small STA team you will be responsible for ensuring that Quality Assured parts are delivered from External Suppliers on time, to specification and to the required quantities. We are looking to recruit STA Engineers who are able to demonstrate the following experience: - Work closely with Purchasing and Engineering to identify and select the most capable and efficient Suppliers - Support Engineering, Purchasing and Suppliers to resolve technical challenges and assure part conformance to drawings, specifications and requirements - Determine Supplier Capability and Capacity, and provide technical support to achieve Supplier Readiness - Champion process improvements with Suppliers to optimise their technical capability to manufacture to our requirements - Lead problem solving activities through to resolution including Problem Definition, Containment, Corrective action and actions taken to prevent reoccurrence of Faults - Manage Non-Conformance, including the review of Concessions raised to ensure that issues are addressed and resolved - Ensure alignment to programme deliverables to support on-time, parts-in-stores delivery dates - Engage with the part design process to ensure that Engineers are aware of Quality History and known Supplier challenges and hence provide effective Design for Manufacture capability and Cost Optimisation within Performance and Reliability targets You must have a background in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering and also: - Education and specialism in Precision Machining and/or Manufacturing of Mechanical components - Practical experience in Motorsport, Automotive, Aerospace industries or with other similar complex components with challenging product specifications and requirements, produced in demanding environments - Proven track record in New Product Introductions and Problem Solving - Understanding and application of GDandT - A Degree in a relevant Engineering subject, preferably Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering It is essential that you are able to travel independently to Suppliers, often at short notice and including overnight stays. You must demonstrate an enthusiastic and innovative approach to Supplier improvement and support and drive for continuous improvement Produce high quality of work with clear and accurate representation of relevant information Good time management, ability to deliver on time-bound commitments Excellent communication skills, able to represent Mercedes AMG HPP at our External Suppliers Initiative to allow independent working with effective prioritisation Positive approach and ability to inspire others Effective conflict and crisis management skills, ability to achieve desired outcomes in difficult environments.
