Highways England Maintenance and Response Contract - Area 7Amey is a dynamic and ambitious organisation committed to creating better places for people to live work and travel. Amey works with the Highways England to deliver its new Maintenance and Response Contract, on the strategic highway trunk roads in East Midlands. The contract is for 15 years and has a value of 300m, covering approximately 709 KM of roads throughout Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and Northamptonshire. The Highways Apprenticeship is based in our Leicester Forest East Depot and will involve practical on the job learning along with working towards a NVQ Level 2 in Highways Maintenance at West Anglia Training Association on a block release basis. What will this role involve? To learn and undertake Highways Maintenance activities such as; traffic management, barrier repair, litter picking, traffic sign renewals and small civils Complying with relevant health & safety legislation at all times Carrying out vehicle checks and filling in defect books Communicating and liaising with other employees of Amey, sub-contractors, emergency services, clients and customers Emergency call out operations Recording Labour, plant and Materials on PDA devices Working towards a NVQ Level 2 at WATA College on a block release basis What are we looking for? 2 GCSEs (or equivalent) grades A* - C in Maths and English Commitment to achieving NVQ Level 2 Full manual UK Driving licence is essential Willing to work in all weather conditions and unsociable hours Availability for out of hours emergency call outs HGV licence (or willing to complete) Excellent time keeping and strong work ethic
