Job Title Senior Mechanical Design Engineer Work Location Christchurch - 1 Airfield Road Job Description The Opportunity We are looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Avionics & Electronics team in Christchurch on a permanent basis. Reporting to the Chief Engineer, the successful Mechanical Design Engineer supports the departments' activities in mechanical design, reliability and failure analysis. Duties and Responsibilities Provides engineering design, maintenance support and training to the Operations team and assesses new and existing equipment to optimize efficiency, safety, quality and cost effectiveness Designs and conducts experiments, collects data and interprets results, conducts analysis and writes analysis and test reports. Capability to draw conclusions and reconcile differences between predicted and actual resultsProvide technical support to failure investigations. May lead investigation NA technical support for bid responsesActive participation in design reviews throughout a product's design cycleDetermines technical objectives and develops innovative, practical solutions to advance technical engineering problemsDirect and mentor junior mechanical engineering staff Qualifications and Experience Essential Criteria: Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering 5 years+ mechanical design experience of avionic or other high integrity products in a harsh environmentExtensive 3-D CAD experience, with SolidWorks the preferred packageThorough understanding of material properties and selectionImplementation of stress and thermal analyses as part of the design process Desirable Criteria: Aerospace backgroundFamiliar with aerospace design specifications and qualification standards Immediate interviews are available for the right candidate along with a generous salary. This position may require exposure to information which is subject to US export control regulations such as the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
